What are nasolabial folds?

Nasolabial folds are the creases that run from the sides of your nose to the corners of your mouth. They are also known as smile lines or laugh lines because they become more noticeable when you smile or laugh. These folds are a natural part of aging, but they can also be caused by sun damage, smoking, and facial expressions. As you get older, your skin loses elasticity and collagen, which can make the folds more prominent.
